Banana Smoothie

While the last recipe was certainly a bit more challenging and complex, our current one is the opposite. Think of it as a way to keep the universe in homeostasis. While we are at it, let's also make the current recipe a drink. A smoothie to be exact.

Not much is needed, but the resulting smoothie is nutritious, healthy, and delicious. My daughter just can't say no – and neither can I. We gobble this stuff down like there is no tomorrow – and there is always a request for seconds.

Admittedly, I feel a bit silly writing a recipe for it – it is THAT simple - but sometimes, we all just need ideas. Perhaps, this is just what you need today.

This smoothie feels good in the tummy, too – it's quite satiating, able to stop hunger pangs right away. No lengthy wait times for the food to be ready, no complicated ingredients that must first be gotten from the store, no crazy clean-up. Just immediate gratification.

By the way, using banana (which I used here) clearly results in a beige recipe and thus, is utterly suitable for my daughter's needs. If your kid is a bit more adventurous, you can use strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, mango, etc. as well. As a matter of fact, during our residence in Costa Rica, we were exposed to just about any fruit under the sun as it was blended with milk (or, on occasion, water). Thus, one could easily order Piña en leche, or Guanabana en leche (if you ever get a chance to try Guanabana (or Soursop), don't turn it down – it is absolutely delicious) in any restaurant. The Costa Ricans certainly know just how nutritious and satisfying these smoothies are...

Ingredients:

1 ripe Banana (don't use any that are not fully ripe yet – not only will they leave a weird “film” on your tongue, but they tend to be so tart as to turn any kid's palate to the “OFF” position right away).

¼ Cup crushed Ice.

½ Cup Milk

Dash of Cinnamon.

Obviously, the banana needs to be peeled first. Once that is accomplished, you are done with the prep work.

Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend until the banana has completely dissolved and the smoothie becomes foamy and creamy. Pour into a cup, sprinkle just a tiny bit more cinnamon on top, and serve. Done!
